News

I haven't been too diligent about writing blogs lately. I've been writing a lot in a spiral notebook lately, and doing that has filled my need to write down a bunch of random stuff. I'm still going to post ideas here from time to time, but I think this blog will turn in to more of a Yaniv's news kind of thing.

I have a lot of news to report. The winter is finally in full swing here in Winter Park, and I've been busier. I've been performing music a lot more lately. I counted 14 gigs in December so far. I have a gig every Sunday night at the Untamed in Winter Park, and every Thursday night at the Crooked Creek in Fraser. I may have another weekly jazz gig every Wednesday at the Pub in Winter Park, but that's not for sure yet. I'm still teaching private music lessons, though I'm thinking about cutting the lessons back a bit.

Starting the end of January, I will be performing with the Grand Theatre Company in Winter Park. I'm going to play Hank Williams in a play called "Lost Highway." I'm really excited about it, and I'm looking forward to rehearsals.

I've been trying to record some of my original songs over the last few weeks, but it's slow going. I think that the secret is to avoid perfectionism and just make stuff. I think that the most prolific people are the least perfectionist. The danger is producing a hundred mediocre pieces instead of one good one. However, if you produce a hundred pieces, chances are that one will be good. I'm going to try to follow that model but it's difficult. The hardest part is getting started.

I've also been watching loads of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episodes. That show is completely awesome. And also the Neil Diamond's "The Jazz Singer" dvd is also awesome, but definitey less so that the "Curb" stuff.

Poem

I was going through some old papers, and I found a poem that I wrote a few years ago. Here it is:

Time flies… even when you’re not having fun.
Time flies when you’re busy, when you don’t have time.
When you have time, time doesn’t fly.
When you have no time, time flies.
You can’t have it because it’s flown away.
Come again some other day… if you have time.

What?

Planets and plants are only an e apart.
